My practice focuses on harnassing the power of horses to help those dealing with anxiety, PTSD, depression, sexual abuse, unresolved trauma and grief, marital strife, and providing support for recovering addicts and their loved ones. In addition to equine assisted therapy I work with adults and adolescents, the LGBTQ community, and couples/families using a variety of evidence-based techniques like EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused - Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Art Therapy, and Mindfullness.
It has been proven that just viewing imagery of horses' strength, power and freedom plays a role in the effect horses have on humans' moods. Imagine the physiologial impact on humans who are allowed to engage one-on-one with an actual horse in a therapeutic session. The effects of equine therapy are more profound and longer lasting than traditional modalities because of the horse and human connection.
In Native American cultures, the horse is specifically identified to have a strong spiritual power, and the horse is a truth teller who can lead individuals in the right direction. As a therapist I have seen first-hand this defintion play out during my work with clients. Because of this, I use intuition and perception to read the herd to help the human. I do not plan ahead for sessions. Therefore, each session is wholly unique to the client and the herd experience is one-of-a-kind and clients processing continues for the client until we meet again.
To look into the eye of a horse is to see a reflection of yourself that you might've forgotten. Set an appointment today so see who that is.
